Description

INCI Name: Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
  • CAS    616204-22-9
  • Sequence   Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH2
  • Cat. No. AP106003.
  • Other Names   Ac-Hexapeptide-8; Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH2
Applications and Properties:

The first anti-wrinkle hexapeptide with a botox-like mechanism of action. It reduces the depth of the wrinkles on the face caused by the contraction of muscles of facial expression, especially in the forehead and around the eyes.

It is a safer, cheaper, and milder alternative to botox, topically targeting the same wrinkle-formation mechanism in a very different way, with comparable efficacy but without the risks, injections and high cost.

Mechanisms of Action

One of the most striking signs of skin aging is increased wrinkling of the face. This can occur naturally over time and is identified by certain biochemical, histological and physiological changes that are amplified by environmental exposure and other factors such as the pull of gravity or repeated facial movements.

Muscles are contracted when they receive neurotransmitters from vesicles. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 mimics the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 and competes with the natural protein for a position in the SNARE complex. If the SNARE complex is slightly destabilized, the vesicle can not release neurotransmitters efficiently and therefore muscle contraction is attenuated, preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles.
